EPA'S OUTREACH EFFORTS ON THE PROPOSED SANITARY SEWER OVERFLOWS RULE
Abstract:Since 1994, EPA has worked with numerous stakeholders to support the development of the proposed SSO rule. More recently, the Agency has expanded its focus from rule development to include developing outreach materials to support of implementation of the proposed rule. EPA has continued to solicit input from stakeholders as it develops a “toolbox” of materials which include:
Technical guidance documents;
Training and outreach efforts;
Sample self-audit reports;
Sample model ordinances for the necessary legal authorities;
Technical research; and,
Compliance monitoring and assistance tools.
This paper summarizes the efforts of the Agency to work with stakeholders on the development of the proposed SSO rule and the SSO toolbox.
