BIOSOLIDS EFFECTS IN A CHIHUAHUAN DESERT ECOSYSTEM
Abstract:Topical application of municipal biosolids provides a means of waste disposal for the generator as well as a means for improvement in semiarid and arid rangelands. This report summarizes major findings of an on-going research program investigating the effects of biosolids in the Chihuahuan Desert. Topical application of biosolids reduces soil erosion and increases soil water infiltration. Additionally, native forage production is increased and forage quality is improved.
