DATA MANAGEMENT FOR LARGE SEWER SYSTEM STUDIES
Abstract:Large sewer system studies have historically required the gathering and management of large quantities of field investigation data. Recent technology has been used to efficiently gather and analyze this data. Digital technologies utilized by RJN Group on several large sewer system studies include the following:
Scanable field inspection forms
Direct digital capture of television inspection data in the field
GPS survey of manhole/structure X,Y,Z location
In addition, technologies for digitally aided data analysis have included:
Utilization of existing digital land base/sewer data
Data exchange between hydraulic modeling and field inspection data
Case study examples from recent large sewer system studies conducted in Dallas, Arlington, Fort Worth and Austin, Texas, and Burlington, Iowa are presented.
