OHIO WATERSHED NETWORK: ONE STATE'S EFFORTS TO BUILD SUSTAINABLE LOCAL WATERSHED PARTNERSHIPS
Abstract:Ohio State University Extension has undertaken the creation of a state-wide educational program to provide in-service training for watershed coordinators and to facilitate the sharing of information and ideas among watershed groups, resource protection agencies, and non-profit environmental organizations. This presentation describes the components of the Ohio Watershed Network and how the program incorporates principles of community-based watershed management. Lessons from the project team's experiences with developing and implementing the various components of the Ohio Watershed Network are offered as guidance for other institutions undertaking similar projects.
