Abstract:

The full scale application of a thermophilic anaerobic digestion system is applied for the processing of farm manure and industrial organic wastes. This co-fermentation approach results in enhanced biogas production that is used for electrical energy production. The electrical energy is sold to the local utility company and the stabilized liquid nutrient is land applied. A description of the Behringen, Germany facility and operating results are provided.
