Abstract:

In this article, the authors describe the beginning stages and ongoing evelopment of a Parents Anonymous group that has been in existence for over 25 years. Particular attention is paid to agency support, child care services, characteristics of parent members, parent training, peer leadership, and the role of the professional facilitator in self-help mutual/aid groups for parents who have experienced, or are experiencing, child abuse and neglect related problems in their lives.
