Abstract:

A general framework efficiency model for goods transportation is proposed. It is specified for the case of regional less-than-truck load distribution. Quantitative data on the magnitude of the partial efficiencies, their dispersion, and their potential for improvement have been collected from experts in the field using a semi-Delphi procedure. This has identified several aspects of road freight transport which offer major opportunities for efficiency improvement.
