Abstract:

The design of a novel high tolerance planar inverted-F antenna (PIFA) for ease of manufacturing is proposed for WLAN application. By properly selecting suitable dimensions for the truncated corner and shorting wall, dual frequency operation centered at 2380 MHz and 5250 MHz with 10 dB impedance bandwidth of 480 MHz (20.17%) and 880 MHz (16.76%), respectively can be achieved with a single probe feed. The experimental and simulation procedures on achieving such operation with a maximum gain of around 6 dBi are presented and discussed.
