Abstract:

Ethylene polymerization was carried out with TiCl4/MgCl2/MCM-41 catalytic system. The morphology of resultant polyethylene was investigated with SEM. It was found that the polyethylene prepared with TiCl4/MgCl2/MCM-41 had fibrous morphology. With increasing polymerization time, the amount of fibers increased. In contrast, the polyethylene prepared with TiCl4/MCM-41 catalytic system only had amorphous morphology. The relations of the morphology and polymerization conditions were explained.
