Abstract:

An overview is given to elucidate chemical properties of fine particulate solids on the basis of their reactivity. Concepts for fine particles design and reaction control of fine powders are demonstrated. Emphasis is laid on the microscopic changes around strained particle surfaces. Some case studies done recently or being done presently in the author's laboratory are presented.

Keywords: Non-ideal solids; hetero bridging bonds; soft-mechanochemical processes; surface functional groups; crystal field
