Abstract:
In order to realize a controlling system for stable operation and to get an economical silo structure, a completely new concept entitled 'intelligent silo' is proposed. In this case, sensors, actuators and a physical model are the fundamental elements. Through experimental and theoretical investigation, it became clear that the friction between the contents and the wall surface is the most important factor. In order to control this frictional situation, silos with hanging vibrating bar(s) have been tried. As a result, it became clear that vibrating hanging bars do not have the effect of friction control in case of this experiment but that they have a very strong effect on reducing the lateral pressure acting on the silo wall.Document Type: Research article
