The journal gives a systematic overview of all areas within psychosomatic medicine. It is the publication of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Psychosomatische Medizin und Psychotherapie e.V. (DGPM; German Society for Psychosomatic Medicine and Psychotherapy).

The journal's objective is to offer a forum for the interdisciplinary exchange of experiences in the field. It provides scientific insight into the interrelationship between psychic and somatic factors in illness, to further psychoanalytic knowledge and develop new approaches in therapy.
