Taking advantage of the relation of the M 2 factor for Gaussian Schell model sources in terms of the global coherence parameter, derived by Santarsiero et al., we have shown in this paper the invariance of the M 2 factor through its connection with geometrical Etendue of the pencil, along each independent coordinate.
