Abstract:

The present article includes the theoretical interpretation, description and verification of the suggested method for measurement of granularity of colour photographic films. The corresponding designed and realized device is based on the uniform low-speed rotation of the suitable enlarged light-permeable photographic copy of measured structural granularity and on the microphotometric scanning of its optical image. The obtained electrical analog signal is amplified and converted to the digital form and then electrically processed by a special electronical system. It is a modern digital rotational microphotometrical granulometer of the module conception with optical separation of control signals and with originally designed rotating mechanical sample stage and electronical processing system which is useful for the laboratory practice. Its resulting outputs consist of random optical transmittance or optical density data of a sample under measurement, their mean value and dispersion.
