Spectroscopic properties of azo-dye doped PMMA films studied by multi-photon absorption

The fluorescence spectra and their decay profiles of novel azo-dye doped PMMA films (ADP) have been studied by using infrared femtosecond pulsed laser as multi-photon excitation source. The cis-isomer fluorescence emission of the azo-dye molecules has been observed stronger than trans-isomer emission. The experiment result shows that the analyzed azo-dye compound isomerizes obviously under two-photon absorption, which may be potentially useful in high-density optical storage.
