Two New Species of the Alcyonacean Genus Protodendron (Octocorallia: Alcyoniidae) from the Indian Ocean off Natal
Abstract:Two new species of the alcyoniid genus Protodendron obtained off the southeastern coast of Africa by the IIOE vessel Anton Brunn is described and compared with the type species, Protodendron repens (Thomson and Henderson, 1906). Taxonomic characters of all three species are illustrated by scanning electron micrographs.
