Free Content Revision of the Western Atlantic and Eastern Pacific Genus Bellator (Pisces: Triglidae)

The genus Bellator comprises seven species with four in the western Atlantic (brachychir, egretta, militaris, and ribeiroi) and three in the eastern tropical Pacific (gymnostethus, xenisma, and loxias). A key to their identification is provided along with synonymies, descriptions, type material, and illustrations. The genus Bellator is diagnosed, and preliminary information is provided on the genera of the family Triglidae.
