Genus Polysiphonia (Rhodophyta, Ceramiales) in the Tropical Western Atlantic: I. Colombia and Venezuela
Abstract:Keys, illustrations, and descriptions are provided for 10 species of Polysiphonia from the Caribbean coast of Colombia and Venezuela: P. atlantica, P. binneyi, P. denudata, P. eastwoodae, P. ferulacea, P. flaccidissima, P. havanensis, P. howei, P. sphaerocarpa and P. subtilissima. Five of these species are newly reported for the study area. Comparisons are made with descriptions for these species elsewhere, and taxonomic and phytogeographic conclusions given.
