Based on abundant material, four species of the genus Stephanocyathus are distinguished in the western Atlantic: S. (S.) diadema (Moseley), S. (S.) paliferus n. sp., S. (S.) laevifundus n. sp., and S. (O.) coronatus (Pourtal├Ęs). These four species are fully described and illustrated; their bathymetric and geographic ranges are provided.
