Heterosiphonia Hummii (Dasyaceae-Rhodophyta), a New Species from the Gulf of Mexico
A new species of Heterosiphonia Montagne (1842) is described. Plants of Heterosiphonia hummii sp. nov. are large, and characterized by laterally connected pericentral cells, six to nine per segment along mature major axes, by an abundance of adventitious monosiphonous
branches, and by regularly alternately arranged polysiphonous axes.
