Petrolisthes Platymerus: The Development of Larvae in Laboratory Culture (Crustacea: Decapoda; Porcellanidae)
The larval development of the eastern Pacific porcellanid crab consisting of a prezoeal, two zoeal, and a megalopal stage is completely described and illustrated. Larvae of this species exhibit telsonal features which differ from those known in the two recognized groupings of larvae (Petrolisthes-group and Porcellana-group). Consequently, a third grouping based on larvae of P. platymerus is established.
