One hundred and sixty four forms of marine algae were collected along the hitherto unexplored southwest coast of Florida by diving, dredging, and trawling during cruise 17 of the research vessel Hernan Cortez. The area is divided into two distinct ecological zones based on the plants found and the physical data. An annotated list of species with ecological notes is presented along with salinity, temperature, light intensity, and substrate descriptions.
