On the Anatomy, Natural History, and Reproduction of Cyphoma, a Marine Prosobranch Gastropod
Abstract:The mantle cavity is described for two species; effects of detorsion are conspicuous. Feeding on alcyonarians, copulation, occurrence in sexual pairs, and fighting are described. Functional anatomy and histology of the reproductive system are treated in detail; the mechanism of egg-mass formation is explained. Albumen, membrane and mucous glands are present. Possible homologies of female structures are discussed.
