A New Species of Pseudobryopsis from Puerto Rico
Research has been undertaken in an effort to clear up some problems concerning the taxonomic status of Bryopsis duchassaingii and Pseudobryopsis longipedicellata. As a result of extensive collecting and the study of numerous specimens, a new species was found which is herein described and named Pseudobryopsis blomquistii. A tabular summary of the principal characteristics of all known species of Pseudobryopsis and of Trichosolen venezolana is included, and reasons are given why the genus Pseudobryopsis should be conserved and hence for placing the new species in this genus.
