Bathymetry of the Straits of Florida and the Bahama Islands Part III. Southern Straits of Florida
A new bathymetric chart of the southern Straits of Florida is presented. The axial gradient of the floor of the straits is somewhat steeper than that in the northern Straits but similarly appears to lack basin depressions. This axial valley terminates on a fan at the western end of the straits that intersects the outer edge of the Mississippi Fan. Little topographic evidence of structural processes can be found.
