Along the same course a succession of dominant species coincided with changes in hydrography. Spatial succession among the less abundant species further diversified the florathe diversity of the section as a whole being three times that of a single sample. A similar diversification is encountered on approaching the South American coast, where upwelling produces an abundance of plankton.", }
