Some Acanthocephalan Parasites of Florida Fishes

Examination of 479 fish (25 species) resulted in the collecting of 5 species of Acanthocephala. Most of these fish were from the Cape Haze area but a few were collected near Miami. The species of acanthocephalans found were: Floridosentis elongatus, Atactorhynchus verecundus, Neoechinorhynchus doryphorus, Telosentis tenuicornis, and Arhythmorhynchus uncinatus. The host and geographic distribution of each parasite is considered.
