Linckia Bullisi, a New Asteroid from the Northeast Coast of South America
Among invertebrates collected by the Fish and Wildlife Service M/V OREGON from the shelf off the Guiana coast of South America was a new species of starfish, Linckia bullisi. It is characterized by a small disk, slender arms, a few greatly enlarged dorsal plates, and by conical
spines on some of the marginal plates. Two other species of the genus (L. guildingii and L. bouvieri), which differ in several details from bullisi, are found in the tropical Atlantic.
