Experimental plantings of seed oysters (Crassostrea virginica) were made at five locations in the oyster-producing area of southeastern Louisiana. The results which were obtained showed that the yield of planted oysters is determined by the inter-action between the growth factors and the mortality factors of the environment. It was found that undue mortalities occurred in certain areas of normally rapid growth in 1947-48.
