Abstract:

A solution to power rising of fiber lasers is the coherent combining of radiations from a parallel arrangement of amplifiers. We have experimentally investigated two passive techniques where an intracavity spectral or spatial filtering is implemented to phase-lock the elementary beams. According to the laser design, the combining is obtained either simultaneously in near and far fields or in far field only. The first technique provides high beam quality with combining inside the cavity whereas the second one is more adapted to high power levels since combining does not occur on an intracavity component.
