Abstract:

Power factor correction is an important topic since voltage distortion generally causes low power factor operation. However, due to the increasing use of semiconductor devices, voltage harmonics are generated in the power system. This letter deals with the power factor correction of the load when the source voltage contains harmonics. It presents some observations to the concept of power factor correction in nonsinusoidal environments.
