Abstract:

A 3D FDTD subgridding scheme based on a finite element (FE) formulation to solve Maxwell equations is presented. Derived from a variation formulation of two coupled problems with the use of Lagrange multipliers and mass lumping, an FDTD subgridding scheme is proposed and analyzed. The stability is discussed with the help of a discrete energy conservation. Some results demonstrate the efficiency and validity of the proposed method.
