Abstract:

This manuscript briefly highlights the author's perspective on obtaining the BioNet event's key goal of consolidating the many areas of interest into a manageable set of working groups aimed at improving the exchange of information between teams sharing a common theme. The author provided an existing, five-component, rehabilitation research domain model and analysis of the meeting content profile relative to it. Analysis results indicated the majority of topic areas were distributed across the three central model domains: impairment, functional limitation, and physical disability. The author proposed creating a network to bridge the existing gap between impairment, functional limitation, and physical disability domains. This network would link basic, translational and clinical scientists across research domains and advance research, patient care and education towards the goal of optimizing human mobility throughout the lifespan.
