Utilizing fenyeng 1C (FY-1C) to monitor ocean colour and water quality: a demonstration experiment in the eastern mediterranean

Results from the use of the Chinese Fenyeng 1C (FY-1C) multispectral sensor to map chlorophyll (Chl)-a concentration in the Southeastern Mediterranean Sea are presented. Estimated Chl-a concentrations were strongly correlated with sea data (R2 = 0.76). Currently, the FY-1C calibration factors are being assessed which may enable an increase in the correlation between the Chl-a concentration and the spectral response measured in the future.
