Influence of the heterogeneity and topography of vegetated land surfaces for remote sensing applications
The variability of the Earth-Atmosphere system truly appears with satellites observations, and yet their interpretation scarcely considers this situation. A three-dimensionalreflectance model was specifically developed for such inhomogeneous and non-horizontal media. After comparisons with Monte-Carlo simulations, this model was used to conduct several sensitivity studies concerning the influence of topography and the possible implementation of a one-dimensional model for inversion in the case of optically and structurally heterogeneous media.
