Turnover distribution and carousel system performance
We determine the system throughput for several 'rotating-while-working' carousel systems. We consider bi-directional carousels with a 'floating' dwell point strategy. First, we introduce a new turnover distribution function that captures the activity skew of containers. Then, we determine the distribution of the carousel rotation time in closed form, which is used to determine the carousel system throughput.
