Abstract:
Detailed descriptions of Laothoes pallaschi n. sp. and of L othoes macrocheir Oldevig, 1959 are given. The new species can be distinguished by the following characters: carpus and propodus of gnathopod 1 somewhat expanded, but these articles of gnathopod 2 elongate and very slender with very narrow palm, maxillipedal palp shorter than the outer plate, its article 3 about half the length of article 2, mandible with lacinia mobilis bulky. A proposed synonymization of L. macrocheir and Laothoes pacificus is rejected. Keywords: CRUSTACEA; AMPHIPODA; EUSIRIDAE; LAOTHOES; PALLASCHI; N; SP; LAOTHOES; MACROCHEIR; LAOTHOES; PACIFICUS; TAXONOMY; NORTH; ATLANTIC; ARCTIC
