I wish to record a case of re-infection of a tuberculosis-free herd of cattle due to an attendant infected with Mycobacterium bovis. Although the danger of tuberculosis-free herds being exposed to attendants suffering from tuberculosis has been recognized for some time (Francis, 1958) the subject is not extensively documented. However, there are records of infection of cattle with both M. tuberculosis and M. bovis from human sources (Lesslie, 1960, 1967) in particular, several workers in different countries have reported cattle infection resulting from attendants with pulmonary M. bovis infection, particuIaly when bovine tuberculosis eradication schemes have reached an advanced stage…
