Over a period of years, copper deficiencies have been recognized in cattle from areas of Northland. There has been little attention given to the problem. It was decided this season to investigate the situation in more detail and from the results to date, it appears that copper deficiency is more widespread than previously thought, and there is a need to re-evaluate the copper status of certain New Zealand soils in the light of changing management.
