Abstract:
The dramatic increase in the incidence of diabetes is of alarming concern to health care professionals. In the United States alone, almost 21 million people, or approximately 7% of the population, have diabetes. By the first quarter of the next millennium, there will be more than 300 million persons with diabetes worldwide. Diabetes mellitus is a serious, life-long condition associated with multifaceted complications. Lower-extremity arterial disease is a common yet, because of its largely asymptomatic nature, underdiagnosed complication of diabetes mellitus.Document Type: Research article
