Abstract:

With the death of George Porter on 31 August 2002, Progress in Reaction Kinetics and Mechanism has lost its first editor. Porter was a towering figure in physical science, having revolutionised the study of fast reactions by his development, with R. G. W. Norrish in Cambridge in the period 1945-50, of 'flash photolysis', for which they were awarded a share in the 1967 Nobel Prize, jointly with Manfred Eigen.

Progress in Reaction Kinetics & Mechanism is an international journal for the quarterly publication of both in-depth reviews and research articles.
