Abstract:

Alkylidene sulfones were prepared in moderate to good yields via direct alkylidenating reaction of ketones with geminal dibromomethyl sulfones promoted by the Sm/SmI₂ system in the presence of a catalytic amount of TiCl₄ under mild conditions.
