It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to the inaugural edition of the St Antony's International Review (STAIR). Those of you familiar with St Antony's College, at the University of Oxford, will be aware of the College's prominent role as a graduate college that specialises in
international research in the social sciences. The College engenders a unique ethos of open, accessible and engaged cross-disciplinary dialogue amongst its diverse body of graduate students and established scholars. This is reflected in the College's specialist area studies centres, its diverse
seminar series, the range of prominent international speakers attracted to the College, and even in everyday social exchange. As an initiative of the graduate students of the College, STAIR seeks to recreate the College's approach to nurturing constructive and accessible dialogue between emerging
scholars, established academics and policymakers. ...
The St Antony's International Review (STAIR) is the only peer-reviewed journal of international affairs at the University of Oxford. Set up by graduate students of St Antony's College in 2005, the Review has carved out a distinctive niche as a cross-disciplinary outlet for research on the most pressing contemporary global issues, providing a forum in which emerging scholars can publish their work alongside established academics and policymakers. Past contributors include Robert O. Keohane, James N. Rosenau, and Alfred Stepan.
