For this issue, we have the pleasure of presenting an interview with the honorable David Satcher, MD, PhD, 16th Surgeon General of the United States. Early last year, he brought forth the first Surgeon General's report on mental health (see page 3) and, in a separate initiative,
called on nurses and other healthcare professionals to step up their efforts in screening patients for depression. Dr. Satcher is interviewed in writing by Guest Editor Kate O'Reilley.
