Ultrasonic velocity and attenuation in Bi2O3–P2O5 glasses of different compositions are measured in the temperature interval 80 K<T<300 K. Different elastic moduli and Debye temperature at varying temperatures are evaluated from velocity data. Temperature variation of ultrasonic velocity and attenuation is explained adequately in terms of a model which takes into account the combined effect of thermal relaxation, anharmonicity and the frozen in fluctuation of the order parameter, namely, the density of the liquid glass during glass formation.
