Numerical simulation of interaction between a threaded glass container and a screw cap

The techniques used to produce a three dimensional finite element model for studying the interaction of screw caps on threaded glass containers are outlined. The geometry used for the simulation has been obtained from standard glass drawings and actual caps. Initial results compare favourably with those found from experimentation.
