Abstract:
The International Measurement Evaluation Programme (IMEP) is owned by the European Commission's Joint Research Centre. IMEP organises interlaboratory comparison (ILC) in support of the policies of the European Union, covering a wide range of measurement tasks from food safety to environmental pollution. IMEP can be considered as a whole metrological process underlining the need for reliability and comparability of measurements. The article describes shortly the history and purpose of IMEP, and furthermore sums up its activities, links and impacts on the European measurement community. Keywords: IMEP; INTERLABORATORY COMPARISON; MEASUREMENT QUALITY; METROLOGY
