Structure parameters for temperature and humidity from simultaneous eddy-covariance and scintillometer measurements

Line-averaged values of the structure parameters of temperature and humidity, C and C, were estimated from simultaneous measurements with an optical and a microwave scintillometer over a path of 4.7 km length at the Meteorological Observatory Lindenberg during the LITFASS-2003 experiment. By cross-correlating the detected signals of the two scintillometers, the temperature-humidity structure parameter, C, and the temperature-humidity correlation, r, were also derived directly from the measurements. Comparison with corresponding values obtained from local measurements with an eddy-covariance system on a meteorological tower show a consistent behaviour in time (with some exceptions especially for C and r during nighttime). The deviations are of a magnitude between 20 % and 35 % of the typical daytime values of the structure parameters.

Streckengemittelte Werte der Strukturparameter für Temperatur und Feuchte, C2 T und C2 q , wurden aus parallelen Messungen mit je einem optischen und einem Mikrowellen-Scintillometer über einen Mess-pfad von 4,7 km Länge am Meteorologischen Observatorium Lindenberg während des LITFASS-2003 Experimentes abgeschätzt. Durch Kreuzkorrelation der Signale beider Scintillometer wurden darüber hinaus der Temperatur-Feuchte Strukturparameter C Tq und der Korrelationskoeffizient zwischen Temperatur- und Feuchtefluktuationen (r Tq ) direkt aus den Messungen abgeleitet. Die ermittelten Werte wurden mit den Ergebnissen von lokalen Eddy-Kovarianz-Messungen an einem meteorologischen Mast verglichen. Beide Datensätze zeigen eine konsistente zeitliche Variabilität der Strukturparameter (mit einigen Einschränkungen, insbesondere für C2 q und r Tq während der Nacht bei stabilen Schichtungsverhältnissen). Die quantitativen Abweichungen liegen in einer Größenordnung zwischen 20 % und 35 % der typischen Werte der Strukturparameter am Tage.
