Principal component analysis (PCA) is used here to determine percent composition of the four monomer units styrene, 1,2-butadiene (vinyl), trans -1,4-butadiene ( trans ), and cis -1,4-butadiene ( cis )
in styrene/butadiene rubber (SBR) copolymers and the three monomer units (vinyl, trans, and cis ) in butadiene rubber (BR) polymers. Comparison of PCA with current methods is described. Cluster analysis
is used to classify the SBR and BR into groups.
