Raman evidence for trace amounts of BeO in wet vitreous BeF2 was found recently, but the Be—(OH) stretching vibration (Be against OH) due to impurity water was not uncovered. Thus, the present Raman and infrared investigation of amorphous BeO and Be(OH)2. 2H2O was begun to obtain more information about the spectrum of BeO, and to locate the Be—(OH) stretching region.
